Initiatives

Le Phénix is a non-profit organization, with over 23 years of experience in project management.  Created in 1986, following a need for increased awareness,  Le Phénix, an information centre which works on community development for people living with a disability, manages projects of short and medium terms.  Here are a few examples :

EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

Le Phénix offers a new service to people living with a limitation seeking employment, be it full-time, part-time or contract work.  You can either be on the Ontario Disability Support Program(ODSP)or Ontario Works program.

Our dynamic team offers to:

    • Meet with you at location of your choice
    • Write or revise a resume and a presentation letter
    •  Identify strengths and interests
    •  Help with job search
    •  Help to prepare for interviews
    •  Introduce you to potential employers ready to offer a work experience
    •  Support in the workplace, if needed

Le Phénix undertook an innovative initiative to better the socio-economic conditions of the citizens of the United counties of Prescott and Russell.

 This project aims to: 

  • Confirm the needs of the people living with limitation and to ascertain their competence and interests;
  • Identify the needs of the socio-economic sectors to include the people living with a disability in their planning;
  • Set up a francophone community of practice, favouring the reinforcement of our potential and the exchange of information.

Evaluation of the accessibility for various programs, services, facilities, establishments, municipal policies as well as those of the higher echelons of government in Prescott and Russell.  The Hawkesbury General Hospital, Clinique juridique Prescott-Russell and South Nation Conservation Authority was also evaluated in the course of this project.

Establishment, support and coordination of municipal consultation committees on accessibility.
